This powerful film tells the story of the original members of a Ukrainian musical bandura ensemble whose members were forcibly transported to slave-labor camps in Germany in 1942. Surviving against all odds, they came as a group and brought their unique music to America. The film brings out the deepest roots of a rare and fragile musical tradition, celebrating the resiliency of a musical instrument know as the bandura, and a music culture that has survived centuries. Featuring a live bandura performance. Refreshments will be available.
Free admission but donations are greatly appreciated.
